An hijacker who was almost hijacked!

How much of thank you can I say to all those who stood by me during “my trying times”? Writing bundles of interesting articles but being unable to post hasn’t got any better expression than to call it “my trying times”.Afterall,my trials gave me an opportunity to publish a book even though I didn’t. It’s being exactly five months since all addicts of this blog got a feel of my thought-I’m happy to let you know I’m back for real and forever. I’m still trying to figure out the wisdom of cutting the branches of a tree without pulling it’s root or how else would one rationalize that a man somewhere hijacked my site without “hijacking” the writer!

I’ll share some of the lessons I learnt from this imbroglio with you in subsequent posts. Permit me to talk a little about myself, maybe it will make a little sense to all those who have being itching to know.

My life has seen very few failures. However, the biggest failure was mediocrity. I was brought up in a middle class, surroundings in the city of ikeja in Nigeria. Since the time of my birth, my life seemed already to have been choreographed. All middle class kids were inculcated with the same ideals and philosophies of life–study well, get good grades, find a good job, get married, settle down, have kids, give them a good education, retire and die broke!

Well, when I say broke, I don’t mean penniless; I mean broke–with respect to how much you could have earned and accomplished.

Peer, parental and societal pressures forced me into a professional career, for if you did not become a doctor or a banker, you were considered a failure. I maintained a comfortable standard of living sustained by a steady job after my compulsory National youth service but I never stretched myself. I always succeeded because my goals were set low even though I knew I had the passion, but that passion seemed to be redirected at trivial things.

Life was fun because I could afford the basics and catch an “extra” bottle of beer whenever I wanted. Like many men, I wanted to get the best out of life, the quest to do more made me realize that life itself wasn’t about my job or what I have but about the number of lives I add to.

I started to think about my career and my passion; I was just fourteen months old on my precious job. I wanted to focus my energies in the pursuit of life’s gems and not on it’s trivialities. I gave up that which was my most precious possession to pursue my dreams without shoes on!

As I write, I had to “hijack” my job to pursue my passion; to help people and companies. In the process I also unshackled myself from the daily grind of a 9 to 5 job. Rather than be a cog in somebody else’s wheel, I wanted to be my own wheel. So far, this has been the most exhilarating journey of my life.

If my story helps but one person to reflect upon life and think about the passion they always wanted to follow, then I would be most delighted to have helped in that realization. Your comment about this piece can go a long way to inspire someone to get out from his comfort zone. Stay inspired.
